Homecoming Week at Le Grand High School, held October 13–17, was full of excitement, teamwork, and a whole lot of creativity. This year’s focus on class floats brought students together to design, build, and decorate amazing displays that showed off each grade’s school spirit and imagination.

The week started off strong on Monday, with students excitedly preparing designs and gathering materials for their floats. The campus was full of energy as everyone painted signs, cut cardboard, and brought their ideas to life. Some students made sharks and dinosaurs, while others worked on fun, detailed decorations. The sophomores especially stood out early on with their impressive cardboard replica of the Titanic, which instantly caught people’s attention.

Things took an unexpected turn on Tuesday when rain rolled in, forcing everyone to make a quick change of plans. Instead of setting up floats on trailers like originally planned, each class got creative and turned their section of the bleachers into their new float space. The change didn’t slow anyone down—in fact, it made the final results even more impressive.

The freshmen took on a Star Wars theme, filling their bleachers with drawings, balloons, and other fun decorations from a galaxy far, far away. The sophomores kept their Titanic theme, using blue and white paper to make an ocean and iceberg backdrop, along with a big cardboard ship to bring the scene to life. The juniors went with Jaws, decorating with surfboards, wave cutouts, and a huge shark that looked ready to jump out of the water. The seniors wrapped things up with an awesome Jurassic Park theme, featuring cardboard dinosaurs, rocks, vines, and even a massive paper volcano.

As the week went on, students continued adding final touches to their floats, spending every spare moment after school making sure their class was ready for judging day. Even with the rain and last-minute changes, everyone worked hard and had fun doing it. Teachers and staff noticed how well the students handled everything and praised the teamwork and creativity on display.

By Friday, the big day had arrived. The bleachers were transformed into a colorful lineup of creative designs that showed off each class’s spirit. After careful judging, the juniors were announced as the winners with their Jaws float, which impressed everyone with its details.

Although only one class took first place, every grade’s effort made the week special. Homecoming Float Week was a huge success, showing just how creative and spirited Le Grand High students can be even when plans have to change.
