Le Grand High School's volleyball team faced two challenging matches this past week, showcasing resilience and skill against both Denair High School and Modesto Christian High School.
On Monday, September 16th, the team traveled to Denair High School for a competitive matchup. The match proved to be a battle of endurance, lasting five sets. The first two sets saw Le Grand struggling to find their rhythm, falling to Denair with scores of 17-25 and 19-25. However, the team regrouped and displayed remarkable determination in the next three sets. Le Grand took Set 3 decisively at 25-15, followed by an impressive 25-12 victory in Set 4. In a thrilling final set, Le Grand dominated with a score of 15-3, securing the match 3-2 and demonstrating their ability to bounce back under pressure.
Le Grand continued their momentum into their home game on Wednesday, September 18th, against Modesto Christian High School. The team showcased an exceptional performance, sweeping the match in straight sets. They started strong, winning Set 1 25-7, followed by an overwhelming 25-2 victory in Set 2. Although Modesto Christian High School put up a fight in Set 3, Le Grand maintained control and finished with a 21-10 win, concluding the match with a solid 3-0 score.
Individual performances were key during both games. Notably, player Aalyiah Ceja excelled with three aces across the matches, contributing significantly to the team's success. Player Alexia Avalos also had a standout performance, recording one kill, two blocks, and one ace, showcasing her versatility and defensive strength.
