On the evening of March 19th, Le Grand High School opened its doors to welcome 8th grade students and their families from Cesar Chavez Middle School and the Le Grand community for a special 8th Grade Night event. Designed to give incoming freshmen a comprehensive look at what awaits them in high school, the evening served as both an orientation and a celebration of the programs and opportunities offered at Le Grand High.

Families arrived to a warm and energetic atmosphere as staff, students, and volunteers came together to showcase the best of what the school has to offer. Representatives from all academic departments were present, including the English and science departments, providing a variety of engaging presentations to help students better understand the curriculum and resources available to them. Interactive displays, sample projects, and informational handouts gave families insight into the learning environment that fosters both academic and personal growth.

In addition to the core academic areas, two of the school's major career pathway programs—the Agricultural Academy and the Medical Academy—held their own presentations to highlight their unique offerings. These academies are known for providing students with hands-on learning experiences and career-focused training that can lead to certifications, internships, and future job opportunities. The Ag Academy showcased some of the work students do with plants, animals, and ag mechanics, while the Medical Academy offered a glimpse into its health science curriculum and real-world learning experiences in the medical field.

Athletics played a major role in the night as well. All of Le Grand High School’s sports teams were represented, from football and volleyball to track and wrestling. Coaches and current student-athletes were available to talk with incoming students about practice schedules, team expectations, and the sense of community that comes with being a Bulldog athlete.

The wide variety of clubs on campus also had a strong presence. Tables were set up around the venue for clubs such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), a student-led group promoting mental health awareness and support. Other student organizations introduced themselves with colorful displays, sign-up sheets, and friendly club members ready to share their experiences. The club booths helped demonstrate that there is something for everyone at Le Grand High School, whether students are interested in leadership, service, culture, or creative pursuits.

Overall, 8th Grade Night at Le Grand High School served as a welcoming and informative introduction to high school life. With so many departments, programs, sports, and clubs coming together, the event provided a strong message: every student has a place and path at Le Grand. The evening not only highlighted the school’s academic and extracurricular strengths, but also the tight-knit community that makes Le Grand High a special place to learn and grow.
